Woke up the family nice and early to catch a once-in-a-lifetime eclipse rising out of Lake Ontario. We packed up our gear and headed to the beach.
It was honestly amazing. For half an hour I felt like I was standing on another planet, watching some alien sunrise.
I must have shot a hundred pictures on my SLR.
But wouldn't you know it... the SD card malfunctioned. Not a single shot was saved.
Fortunately, my astrophysicist daughter was shooting with her phone, and even though they aren't as good as the SLR would have been, a blurry picture in the hand always beats the perfect one that was lost.
